Where to publish your company video

    guide to video marketing

Producing a high quality company video is only the first part of your success with video content. After all, there isn’t much value in a video that your potential customers don’t get to see. Which is why, video marketing is essential for any business. Large or small. In fact, by marketing your video to the right audience, at the right time, you can make a huge difference to your click-through’s and conversions. Which potentially means a growth in sales. Here at Oh Video, we are Manchester’s leading video marketing and video production experts. And we work with companies and businesses across Manchester and the surrounding area, to deliver high quality video production, and video marketing support. As a result, we have produced this guide to where to publish your company video.

Platforms to load your company video

There are many platforms to upload your company video onto. These include:

    • your own website
    • YouTube
    • Social media platforms

Choosing which platform to use for your video, or a range of videos can be a challenge. Especially when you want to get the most out of your hard work and investment. So how do you know which platform to choose? Should you upload to all platforms, or just choose one. And which platform will be the best option to suit your aims and goals?

Where to publish your company video

Deciding where to publish your company video will depend on a range of factors. These include:

    • The length of your video- a video over 2 minutes in length, is probably not the best option for your social media platforms. That’s because, people tend to only watch very short videos when browsing Facebook or Twitter, and longer videos will not be completed. In fact, some people switch off after 10 seconds! So keep your longer videos for your website, or your YouTube channel.
    • The content- Different types of content are better suited to different platforms. While promotional video material, and some storytelling, is acceptable for social media, explainer videos and detailed videos, are much better for your website. Longer explainer videos, 5 minutes plus, can be a great addition to your YouTube channel.
    • The aim of the content- It’s not just the content itself that should determine where to upload the video to. It should also be the underpinning aim of the content. Videos that you produce, that aim to grow your reach, need to be used on your social media platforms. Where they can easily be “boosted” to reach a whole range of people, determined by your target audience demographics. While videos that aim to educate and inform interested potential customers, would be much better placed on your website itself. Where people who might be sitting on the fence can be persuaded to trust your company.
    • The style of your video- producing short, creative and fun videos is a good way to engage your audience on social media platforms. But they might not be helpful for your YouTube channel or your website. On the other hand, serious video content, explaining in depth, is probably not suitable for social media. Although you could edit the footage to create an additional 2 minute condensed version just for social media.
