When it comes to video marketing and releasing video content, one of the biggest mistakes anyone can make is to forget the importance of being relevant. But with social trends and patterns changing regularly, and sometimes drastically, from one week to the next, being relevant sometimes isn’t easy. Here at Oh Video, we are Manchester’s favourite video production and marketing experts. We analyse trends and monitor developments to keep our content on trend. As a result, we have produced this guide to how to keep your video content relevant.
Maybe it’s an outdated descriptive word? Or maybe it’s term no longer used for your product? Video titles with out of date language are not likely to appear in any search results pages. Nor are videos with boring, stuffy, or keyword filled titles likely to perform well.
But there is more to it than that. Not only does your general language use need to be up to date and relevant, you need to make sure your keyword research is too. This is absolutely essential, as video titles that contain relevant keywords, that are current and interesting to the viewer, are far more likely to be successful. One thing to bear in mind though, is that your keywords need to be thoughtful and well chosen. Don’t fill a title space with keywords as this definitely won’t work.
As a result, if you have a video you put onto YouTube and your website 6 months ago, you need to update it. Thankfully, you wont necessarily have to shoot the entire video again, providing the content is top quality and still useful. But, by simply updating your title and using some appropriate and relevant keywords, your video can become relevant again.
Perhaps when you uploaded your content you didn’t think it was necessary to add a description, I mean the video speaks for itself, right?
Unfortunately, this is the wrong answer.
YouTube allows around 800 words for a video description, and this is a great way for you to market your video. Search Engines find it much easier to rank your video content if a description is provided.
However, as with all other things, its not a simple case of filling the box with a description of what the video content is about. You again need to rely on that keyword research to make sure that you are using the right phrases to be picked up by a search engine.
Video uploading times
Finally, if your content is also shared via social media, you need to consider your posting times. Believe it or not the time that you share a video can make or break the success of the video. Take a look at your statistics and work out when your video attracts the most attention. Then, simply play to your own advantage.
When it comes to video marketing success, it is critical that your content is relevant. But just how do you keep your video content relevant? We advise updating video titles, video descriptions, and paying attention to uploading times. Why not contact us at Oh Video for professional video marketing support?
